My Response to Peter Grego's work

My Response Plan

To respond to the work of Peter Grego, I intend to take and edit photos in Photoshop.

My work will link to my artist because I will face paint pride flags onto people's faces.

I will need my LGBTQ+ friends to model for me because representation is really important & they are all gorgeous.

The equipment I need will be a handheld DSLR camera with studio ring lighting .

I will take my photos at school during lessons and lunchtime.

I will include the compositional rules and formal elements of colour and contrast.

This will link to my theme as Home is when you are at a comfortable place with yourself and the people around you and gender identity & sexuality are very important factors in that feeling.

My Three Photoshop Edits

To edit my photo of my friend I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and used the brightness/contrast tool to make the image slightly less dark. Then I used the burn tool to add back in some of the shadows to make it look more dramatic. After that I touched up the flag on his face to make the lines straighter and cleaner. Finally, I used the dodge tool to add some highlights to his nose and inner corners of his eyes to tie it together.

To edit the second photo I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and used the dodge tool to put some highlights on her nose. I then used the burn tool to add some shadows around her. Once I had done that, I used the brightness/contrast tool to make the image lighter and give it a more lighthearted mood. Then I touched up her flag to clean up the lines and make the colours a pop a little more and make them slightly bolder,

For the final photo, I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and changed the brightness to make the image lighter. Then I used the brush tool to make the colour less patchy and more defined. Then I used the dodge tool to add highlights to her face like the inner corners of her eyes and her nose and the burn tool to add shadows around her shirt.

My favourite of the photos is probably the first one because I think it looks the cleanest but the closest to the artist's is the last one.
