My Response to Sebastian Magnani's work

My Response Plan

To respond to the work of Sebastian Magnani, I intend to take and edit photos in photoshop

My work will link to my artist because I will also use a circular mirror to show a reflection and I will be taking photos of nature.

I will need a circular mirror to use in my photo and I need to be able to go outside so I can photograph trees and plants.

The equipment I need will be DSLR camera and a mirror (circular)

Do you need to take your photos/film at a specific location, or with a specific background? i need to take my photos outdoors because they need to be photos of trees and plants.

I will include the compositional rules and formal elements of framing, rule of thirds, symmetry, shape and form, negative space, balance, texture, focus and colour.

This will link to my theme because of the edges of the mirror.

My Three Photoshop Edits

To edit my green photo I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and I copied and pasted the mirror photo onto the background photo and used the object selection tool to cut out the mirror so that was the only part of the other photo that I used. Then I created a shadow underneath the mirror using a new layer and selected the mirror and a small area around the outside using the magic wand tool; I colour matched a dark green colour to act as my shadow and filled in the new layer using the paint bucket tool. To make sure the shadow wasn't too sharp, I edited the opacity and changed it to a lower percentage. Next I edited the brightness, concentration, saturation and vibrance to make the colours stand out more and so they were more vibrant.

To edit the yellow photo I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and I copied and pasted the mirror photo onto the background photo and used the object selection tool to cut out the mirror so that was the only part of the other photo that I used. Then I created a shadow underneath the mirror using a new layer and selected the mirror and a small area around the outside using the magic wand tool; I colour matched a dark green colour to act as my shadow and filled in the new layer using the paint bucket tool. To make sure the shadow wasn't too sharp, I edited the opacity and changed it to a smaller percentage. I noticed there was pink wrapper in the corner of my photo so I used the clone stamp tool to clone some grass from another part of the photo and filled the wrapper in so it disappeared. I also wanted to have more yellow buttercups in the background so I used the clone stamp tool again and I cloned a flower and filled it in somewhere else on the photo, I did this a couple of times to get a couple more flowers. Next I edited the brightness, concentration, saturation and vibrance to make the colours stand out more and so they were more vibrant.

To edit my white photo I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and I copied and pasted the mirror photo onto the background photo and used the object selection tool to cut out the mirror so that was the only part of the other photo that I used. When i put the mirror onto the background photo, it looked more like an oval shape so I edited the shape with the move tool and holding shift button down and made it more circular.

Which edit do you feel has been the most successful and why (link this to your photographers and theme)?

I think the green photo has been the most successful edit because in my opinion it looks the most similar to one of Sebastian Magnani's photos. I also think that the colour of the tree in the mirror matches best to the colour of the ground compared to the other two photos.
