Research into my Theme
Edges
What is your project about? How are you going to explore your theme through photography?
my project is about showing edges in the style of 3 different photographers. I have found 3 photographers that I like and I have tried to replicate their photos whilst showing my theme of edges

How does your theme relate to the three photographers you have chosen?
For my theme of edges I am interested in exploring reflections because I like seeing things differently. The title of edges suggests a line or shape that cuts off the photo or frames the photo. My theme is shown by the three photographers I have chosen: Sebastian Magnani, Suzanne Saroff and Alberto Seveso. These photographers use the formal elements of negative space and contrast to create a calm and relaxing mood. Sebastian Magnani shows edges by using a circular mirror and showing the reflection in the mirror but also outside the edge of the mirror is a background photo with lots of negative space. Suzanne Saroff shows my theme of edges with the glasses that she uses to distort the fruit behind them. The glasses distort the edges of the fruit and can reflect the fruit upside down through the glass. Alberto Seveso doesn't show edges as clearly as my other two photographers however Alberto Seveso's photography, with free and flowing edges of ink, contrasts my other photographers as they have very defined edges in their photos. Alberto Seveso takes his photos in order to capture very fleeting moments that are hard to see with the human eye. My idea for my first development is to combine Sebastian Magnani's photography style with Alberto Seveso's style and show my theme by contrasting the defined edge of the mirror from Magnani's photos with the flowing edges of the ink from Seveso's photos so that it looks like the ink is spilling over the edge of the mirror. My idea for my second development is to combine Sebastian Magnani's photography style with Suzanne Saroff's photography style and I will replace the mirror from Magnani's photos with the glass ball from Saroff's photos so that the edge in the photo is the same shape (a circle) from Magnani's photos but instead of the edge of the mirror, is is the edge of a glass ball. For my third development, I intend to combine techniques from all three of my artists to show my theme of edges. I will use photos that I have already taken for my artist copies 2 and 3 and my photos from my 2nd development. I will edit the ink from the Alberto Seveso artist copy into the glasses from the Suzanne Saroff copies I did. Then I will use the photos I took for my 2nd development (the unedited glass sphere photos) and edit the glass ball onto the glass ball already on the photo. This development with set me up for my final piece as I will have started to combine all three of my artists whilst also showing my theme.

Is there any research you can do by googling, finding articles, headlines, collecting research about it etc.
I have researched my theme of edges and created these mind maps:
