My Response to peter lik's work
My Response Plan
To respond to the work of Peter Lik, I intend to take and edit photos in Photoshop.
My work will link to my artist because I will also capture shapes in nature and use reflections. My aim is to take inspiration from the colour palettes he uses, one which reminds me of sunset, and the blues for the buildings.
The equipment I need will be a camera and tripod. I will need to go into the city to take my photos because I want to capture architecture and skyscapes.
I will include the compositional rules and formal elements of reflection, contrast
This will link to my theme by linking to home by taking photos in my area and using the theme of love which is what i feel when I'm at home.

My Three Photoshop Edits

To edit my photo of a sunset I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and enhanced the colours by raising the vibrancy and brightness and then editing the hue and saturation. I then used the dodge tool to lighten certain areas of the photo and the sharpen tool to sharpen some to heighten the clarity for example the the reflections to mimic the artists vibrant reflections.
To edit the second photo I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and first heightens the brightness and contrast to emphasise and sharpen the heart shape of the cloud in order to relate to the artists use of shapes in the natural environment like hearts. I also used the sharpen tool to further help shape the cloud and make it stand out from the sky canvas. In order to dramatize the scene i used the hue/saturation feature and added some deep red tones to create a sense of warmth and love which also helps reflect the values of the heart which is essentially the subject of the photo telling a story of love just like the artists photography.
For the third photo, I opened it in Adobe Lightroom and increased the saturation and lowered the exposure. I then used a pre-set to add a light blue hue to the photo. This helped create a nostalgic aesthetic and help mimic peters image of the flatiron building in new York both through the angle and the aesthetic
i think the second one is the most useful as it uses reflections, a sunset and water droplets all of which are seen in Liks photography
WWW- this has to be my favourite artist outcome for a few reason. One being the diversity of the shots due to the lack of limitations from the artist. The broad nature of his photography style allowed me to quiet efficiently mould it into my theme. This also meant i could be more experimental with the editing process and colours. I particularly admire the heart-shaped cloud in the first photo as i think it captures my love for my home and its atmosphere perfectly.
EBI- i think i managed to take in account previous mistakes which made for a trio of photos which have the perfect balance of both my artist and theme. That being said, I wouldn't change a thing.
