My Response to Jessica kobeissi's work
My Response Plan
To respond to the work of Kobeissi's, I intend to take and edit photos in Photoshop.
My work will link to my artist because I will also use photoshop to edit pictures in a film camera style. I will pose my models to make it look more high fashion which replicate the Kobeissi's fashion photography. I will need girls to model because my photographer uses women to bring attention to the clothes they are wearing. I will also take some self portraits with my camera on a timer and it will be on tripod.
The equipment I need will be a DSLR Camera or phone to allow me to change to light exposure triangle, reflector to fill in shadows and focus lens to get close up to the model.
I need to take pictures outdoors in a background that contrasts to the person's clothes. For example, against a black graffiti wall or the park.
I will include the compositional rules of the rule of thirds, central eye dominant, contrast between subject and background by using colour .For example, she has a dull background and colourful clothes. I will include the formal elements of focus, texture, strong lines, colour and light. This will link to my theme of strange and fantastical as the unique methods by which the artist uses colour and light makes the image very distinctive and unusual hence gathering the viewer's attention.

My Three Photoshop Edits/ My Edited Film Response

For my first edit, I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and I used camera raw filter to use calibration to increase the saturation of the red tones to emphasize the red trousers of the subject in the style of my photographer as they use the subject's outfit to make them stand out. I increased the brightness and contrast of the image using the curves layer because to improve the lighting of the image. I then added noise to give it a grainy, film-like look to make it feel more nostalgic.
To edit the second photo I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and I cropped it so that I am in the right hand corner of the rule of thirds so that the viewer's eye is led to me as my photographer uses rule of thirds to make the subject the focal point of picture. I improved the shadows and highlights of the image of the image using the curves layer to enhance the lighting of the image, like my photographer does. I added vignette to the outer corners of the image to give it evocative effect.
For the third photo, I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and I used colour mixer to increase the saturation and hue of the colours to bring out the intensity of the blue in the sky. I used colour grading to create a joyful mood by adding yellow and orange hues to make the warm and pleasant. I used camera raw filter to increase the temperature to enhance the warmth of the picture. I added vignette to darken the edges of the image to add a retro effect to the image.
I think my first edit was the most successful as the theme of strange and fantastical is demonstrated well by the distinctive elements of the image. For example, the overall contrasting colour scheme is alluring as the bright red seamlessly contrasts with the black background which is very striking to the viewer therefore portraying Kobeissi's eye-catching, exciting and authentic style of photography.
