Study of Digital Artist Two
Alberto Sevesco
Introduction
-
I have chosen to study the photographer Alberto Seveso
-
I have chosen them because I really like how they capture the effortless merging of the different colours

Analysing 1 of their pieces of work:

-
The subject matter of the work to the right depicts different colours of ink diffusing into each other. The contrast between the dark but rich purplish- pink colour and the the turquoise colour drawing the viewer's attention to the effortless dispersing into eachother- the black background further highlights the beautiful contrast.
-
Sevesco has paid particular attention to Compositional Rules in this work, as they have intentionally used the contrast Between Subject and Background
-
Sevesco has also used the Formal Elements of Negative Space (the empty space around an object), Focus, Texture, Colour,
-
The effect of these visual devices is used to direct the viewer’s eye to focus on the subject and perfectly captures the fluid movement of ink mixing with water

Mood:
-
I think the work feels peaceful. The artist has created this mood by the colours gently diffusing into eachother
-
The two overarching colours used in the work are complementary to eachother as they bring out richness and vibrancy of each colour which really stands out. Hence, it effectively helps to focus on the vivid details the colours and how striking they are

Technical analysis:

-
I think that this work was probably taken using studio lighting equipment ring lights and box lights, props like a white background, a clear water tank , coloured inks. These equipment is needed to create a more professional photoshoot so that the images are well lit and polished making the image more captivating.
-
The artist has used studio lighting that are lit from a specific the sides or positioned slightly towards the front. There are no significant shadows created so Seveso uses soft light.
-
The artist also uses high key photography as there is narrow tone range across the subject. He uses this to make the image more airy and light to give an optimistic feel and it helps to make the rich colours stand out.
-
The work has been edited in Photoshop. They have edited it by changing the brightness and contrast of the image to enhance the colours to draw the viewer's attention to the vibrancy of the colours.
-
In this work the camera has been focused on the colours of the ink
-
The artist has used a small aperture to create a large Depth of Field. I can tell this because everything in the image is in focus and it also makes the image brighter which helps to draw the viewer's attention to the important elements of the subject hence emphasizing the lively colours.
-
I can tell that Seveso has also used a fast Shutter Speed because because they wanted to reduce motion blur and make the image more sharper as Seveso wants to display high-speed photographs of two ink colours mixing
-
It would have been best for them to use a medium ISO like 3200 to take this work because it prevents grain so that the pictures will be well-lit and the colors and contrast in the images will be better.

Intent:
-
Researching Seveso’s work, released a fascinating collection of underwater ink photographs. The images were made by taking high-speed photographs of two ink colours mixing with water, the artist mixed two colors and titled his new series ‘a due Colori’. I have also found Seveso took these photos because he liked the variety of contrasting colours
-
I think their work is related to his passion for graphic art from when he was younger. Hence, he started to create his series ‘A due colori’ Seveso experiments with high-speed photography while trying to find a new way to make something beautiful using ink and water.

Relate to your own work:
-
I will be implementing the same concept of colour in my work. When recreating this picture I will also use bright colours of paint that compliment eachother and I will try and capture the motion of the colours and how they interact differently with eachother as I think the movement of the colours, along with the colour, is what makes the picture engrossing.
