Study of Digital Artist One

North Borders

Introduction

  • The subject matter of the work to the right depicts a train on a train track

  • Any other information about the work that is important?

  • [Borders] has paid particular attention to Compositional Rules in this work, as they have intentionally used central eye dominant where the bus is positioned on the left segment of the photograph.

  • [Borders] has also used the Formal Elements of focus on the bus and the road .

  • The effect of these visual devices is to allow the viewer to focus their eyes to the bus where it is the main subject.

Mood:

  • I think the work feels at ease and is very relaxing. The artist has created this mood by the warm tone lighting but it has also been taken at night

  • The colours used in the work are using lowkey lighting.

  • The lighting matches into the them of home as it is relaxing.

  • I have chosen to study the photographer North Borders

  • I have chosen them because I really like how they take photographs at night and it displays the city .

Technical analysis:

  • I think the image was taken on a camera with no added lighting

  • I think they have used photoshop to enhance the colours within the photograph

  • The artist has used natural lighting. The lights in the images are lit red and the reflection of the puddles are bright .

  • I think they have edited the photograph in photoshop/premier pro to bring out the colours in the image and to draw our eyes to the image)

  • In this work the camera has been focused on a vertical street path all the way to the end of the photograph. The image is not blurry and is in focus.

  • The artist has used a medium aperture to create a Long Depth of Field. I can tell this because the photograph extends far enough for our eyes to see and it isn't close up.

  • This allows us to track the image all across

  • I can tell that [Border's] has also used a fast Shutter Speed because the entirety of the image is in focus and motion blur has been reduced.

  • It would have been best for them to use a medium ISO like [1600] to take this work because the image is taken at night so the ISO would have to be brighter to make the image more clear.
