My Response to lopez's work

My Response Plan

To respond to Lopez's work I will use their editing techniques and ideas and incorporate them into portrait photographs of people as well as the use of this for buildings.

I will need to use studio lighting in order to take the portraits.

The equipment I need will be a DSLR camera and a ring light.

I will include the compositional rules and formal elements of negative space, framing colour and shape and form as well as contrast.

Lopez's aim is to create a piece of work that inspires by whats's around us using colour. My project will focus on the idea of staying true to ourselves despite what society tells us so the reason i chose to study this artist is so that i can widen my understanding of how developing the finite details (e.g colour, shapes and text) within a piece of art can have a lot to say.

My Three Photoshop Edits

To edit my first photo I wanted to focus on Lopez's editing style and how I could develop an idea using this. As a result I  chose to use an image off the internet as the base of this artist copy. I created a layer mask so I could then change the background to be a varying gradient of colours similarly to Lopez. I wanted to to

To edit this photo In Adobe Photoshop I created a mask of the subject in order to create a solid backgrounds colour. I used the object selection toll and then pressed select and mask in order to create adjustments. I then duplicated the layer and used the paintbrush tool to add my purple background.

The original version of this photo had a extremely low brightness so I cropped the photo and adjusted he brightness as well as the contrast to make the colour stand out.
