Study of Digital Artist three

Introduction

I have chosen to study the photographer Victoria Siemer

I have chosen them because I really like how they manipulate the photo using other parts of the photo whether that be a reflection of the main photo or the use of the negative space in the sky.

Analysing 1 of their pieces of work:

The subject matter of the work to the right depicts a reflection of the mountain range in the background behind.
Siemer has paid particular attention to Compositional Rules in this work, as they have intentionally used symmetry, leading lines and diagonal lines.
Siemer has also used the Formal Elements of texture, colour and shape and form.

Mood:

I think the work feels exciting. The artist has created this mood by creating a perspective.
The colours used in the work are low key as there isn't much contrast.

Technical analysis:

I think that this work was probably taken using a drone.
The artist has used natural lighting to create shadow amongst the mountains.
Yes the photographer will have use photoshop to create the shaped reflections and to alter the brightness and contrast as they would have used natural lighting when originally taking the photo.

In this work the camera has been focused on the peaks of the mountains.
The artist has used a big aperture to create a Long Depth of Field. I can tell this because mountains throughout the photo are in perspective not just the ones at the front.
This means that the viewers eyes on just drawn to one place.
I can tell that Siemer has also used a fast shutter Speed because there are no light trails and she would have
It would have been best for them to use a medium ISO as the photo is not grainy.

Intent:

From looking at it, I think the work is about showing reflections and different perceptions of how we see things
Researching Siemer's work, I have found that their work is about depicting the idea of fragmented emotions

I have chosen this artist in order to express the emotions we have and the way in which we express them.
