My Response to Calle's work

My Response Plan

To respond to the work of Calle's, I intend to take and edit photos in Photoshop

My work will link to my artist because I will also will use projection and also use French text.

The equipment I need will be a DSLR camera and a projector but I will not need a tripod as I will be taking the photos of other people rather than a self-portrait

I will need to use blank wall in order to take my photos as I will need a clear projection.

I will include the compositional rules and formal elements of negative space, the rule of thirds, contrast between subject and background and tone.

This will link to my theme because I have picked a handful of quotes for one f my pieces relating to self-belief and self-encouragement linking to my theme of finding a home within yourself.

My Three Photoshop Edits

To edit my photo using my quotes I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and first cropped it in order to make sure that no blank wall could be seen. My model was wearing a blue earing which did not match the mood of the photo so I used the patch tool to erase it. I then went on to adjust the brightness and contrast of the photo, as when taking the picture the camera had to be on very specific settings in order for  me to take the photo as the light from the projector was needed to be let in because it showed the projection of the words but because the projector let out a lot of light, I tried to gain as little natural light a possible in order to be able to see the writing.

To edit the next photo I opened it in Adobe Photoshop but didn't have to do that much. I cropped the photo  again, making sure there was no blank wall and then went to adjust the photo into black and white adjusting the lightest and darkest tones within the photo.

For the last photo I used Sophie Calle's style with the projection but wanted to try and use colour to see what effect it would have on the photo. I choose the colour blue to reflect the pessimistic tone of Calle's style of work but in a different way . To edit this photo I just cropped it as during the photo taking process I used a blue jell over the light from the projector.
