Development Two

My Plan

Within my development I hope to...

1. combine influences from each of my 3 chosen artists

2. make sure my work is about my theme

3. include my own research and ideas

My second devlopment will be one piece of work that combines different ideas from all three artists.

Taking my Photos/Footage

In this photoshoot I attend to have a model with 'you are your home' projected over them in a similar way to the pieces I did as a reflection of the artist Sophie Calle.

Similarly to the first development I will need to use a DSRL camera with a projector on a blank wall.

The compositional rule essential in this piece will be the compositional rules of framing as well as centre eye dominant. In addition to this I will use the formal elements of colour, shape,tone,texture and contrast as this photo has many different elements to it .

My aim for this development was that you could be anywhere in the universe but the centre of it all is us and how we fell and what we do.

My Outcome

To edit my photo in photoshop I first adjusted the brightness and contrast of the image and them using the selection toll and magic wand I created a mask of my model onto a new layer and delete the background so this was the only layer I had. I then began to make a gradiating background using colours from one of Lopez's own pieces and from google I found the planets and implemented them as well as a cloud. to create the space/sky allusion across the eyes.Once I had finished that I wanted to incorperate the alluminating ring that Lopez also included and I did this by creating a a circular line and then adding the glow effect on top. To finsish the first part of the editing process I added text

The aim for the next stage of the editing process was to create the flipped shape that Siemer includes in her work. To do this I created a new layer on top of the original photograph that was the same as the layer underneath but cropped it and framed it in the middle. This meant that I could then created an inverted triangle layer and deleted this revealing the background and finally to created the flip effect I rotated the back layer to contrast the layer at the front.

Review

This development has gone well as I think the ideas of all the artists came together nicely to form this piece which has lots of depth and interesting elements.

In my next Development

In my next development I plan to change the format of my work, creating a short video rarther than a photo. I think this will be really beneficial for my projects as it will show the different ways I can explore my ideas and themes whilst being inspired by the artist I chose.
