My Response to Sophie Calle's work

My Response Plan

To respond to the work of Sophie Calle, I intend to take and edit photos in Photoshop.

My work will link to my artist because I will also use a projector and project a message on an individual.

I will need specific people to model in plain clothing in order to get a clear image projected.

The equipment I need will be a DSLR Camera, a projector and a plain backdrop.

I will need to take my pictures at the studio booth with a plain background and complete darkness to in order to achieve the best result

I will include the compositional rules and formal elements of contrast, tone and focus.

This will link to my theme of Home because it ties in with the ideas of identity and feelings.

My Three Photoshop Edits

To edit my photo of my response to Calle, I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and initially started off with cropping the image to eliminate the negative space in the back. I then adjusted the brightness and contrast to make the image darker to make the shadows behind the model seem more prominent to replicate the photographer. I then went to make the image black and white by using the 'grayscale' mode to replicate my chosen artist.

To edit the second photo I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and cropped the negative space that I did not want in my photograph and centralised the model in a specific way. Then, I modified the brightness/contrast and colour balance to fit the aesthetic of the photographer.

For the final photo, I opened it in Adobe Photoshop and I cropped the air space so the model was in the middle of the Rule of Thirds, this is so the viewer's eye is led to the see what the projected text says. After, I altered the brightness and contrast to recreate the artist's work. In addition to this, I added a black and white filter to further enhance this piece.

I feel like my first edit was the most successful as I think it captures what the photographer does and replicates her style remarkably.
