Research into my Theme
STRANGE AND FANTASTICAL
What is your project about?
My project is about making normal surroundings/ objects (probably objects more) surreal. Making them look strange and out of place. I am interested in the theme Strange and Fantastical because I really like things looking unnatural and different. I am also very interested in using landscapes to do this, using high and low apertures, filters and editing photos into each other. Also messing with different types lightings (silhouettes, sunsets, etc ). Making things look strange through refraction with various degrees of surrealism.
How are you going to explore your theme through photography?
I am going to incorporate Suzanne Saroff's ideas and put her style of photography into landscapes like Ansel Adams and then maybe add in strange photoshop like Victoria Siemer to make it more 'strange and fantastical'. And create weird combinations of the three artists and my own preferences to personalise it, hopefully creating an image that fits my theme and actually looks nice. Or any other way, with two or more of the photographers.
How does your theme relate to the three photographers you have chosen?
My theme relates to my three photographers because Victoria Siemer takes her own photos of landscapes and photoshops them to make a section of the image appear to be upside down. Suzanne Saroff uses glasses of water and glass objects to distort her images, and Ansel Adams does untouched huge, natural, wide landscapes that look very mystical.
Is there any research you can do by googling, finding articles, headlines, collecting research about it, etc?
I will research how each photographer takes there photos again so I really know how they do it, and why they did it so I can clearly know how they fit into my theme and how I can incorporate it into my developments. Also each photographer did their work and style for a reason, so finding those reasons may also help to explain my theme and my personal ideas for my phtoography.
