Development Three

My Plan

For my third development, I took a video of my subject looking from one side of the screen to the other which I later edited to make it seem as if the subject's eye line is following a set of butterflies. The lighting for this piece was inspired by Aaron Griffin as I used sunset-style colours to create energy and attraction. The influence of Peony Yip comes from my digital painting as I decided to complete my subject using different grey tones in order to focus on the colour of the butterfly and its surroundings, highlighting the beauty and liveliness of their nature. This development is a further experiment of animation as I am animating both the butterflies and the female subject; I will be using Photoshop to digitally paint each separate frame of the video. I hope that through the colours I have used the focus is on the butterflies and the energy and change that they bring. Below I have displayed the raw video I used for this piece.

The Process

The above screenshots show the process of painting one frame.

To begin with, I edited the video to make my subject black white using the adjustment filter and then I imported my video into Photoshop from video frame to layers. I then outlined my subject and created a folder for each frame which had multiple layers for all of the different section(hair, background, hand ,body ,face, neck, mouth, eyes and nose). To start of with, I used thicker brush strokes to create a foundation and to ensure that I had the correct colours for the base of the piece I used the colour picking tool. Then for the facial details and butterflies I used thinner brushes to ensure that the piece had a sense of realism.
