Carli Ihde is an animator and illustrator from Winsonson who emphasises strong expressions and movements in her animations. The facial expressions and gestures she uses in her work add to the dramatics of her piece and highlight human emotions.
Furthermore, she only adds colour to certain parts of her work like the slight blush on the cheeks and hands which I think is done to add to her subject's character. The focus of her work seems to be the emotions her subject, which is often herself, is feeling.
In order to do my artist copy I used photoshop and divided my videos into frames and drew over them using a graphics tablet. I used a thin brush in order to outline my subject but then I used a bigger, opaque brush for the clothes.
I hope to be able to illustrate the powerful expressions of my subject in the same way Ihde does through her rotoscoping. I will use her style of animation and use colour to highlight only certain parts of my subject's expression.
